Babylon was already archaic by the time Revelation was written, so how do we understand it today?

It is interesting that Babylon is invoked in Revelation to represent great evil. A number of pretty terrible regimes intersect with the Old Testament stories, and taking another look at Babylon leaves us feeling that it might not have even been the worst. We discuss the different approaches to life that can arise from a focus on apocalyptic Babylon.
